9 Quick Tips For Maintaining a Clean Dashboard

One thing we often come across here at Austin Area Color New is that many people struggle to keep a clean dashboard in tip-top shape!

It can certainly be difficult to keep your dashboard looking new all the time, when you consider the harsh effects of the sun — or our kids!

Clean Dashboard Tips!

We thought we’d share some tips for maintaining a clean dashboard and console:

1. Keep a Clean Dashboard

The best way to keep a clean dashboard looking its best is to maintain it regularly. This will help to prevent dirt, dust, and grime from building up and causing damage. You can use a mild soap and water solution or a commercial dashboard cleaner. Be sure to dry the dashboard thoroughly after cleaning. Moisture can cause mildew and mold to grow if it doesn’t dry properly.

2. Use a Dashboard Protector

A dashboard protector can help to keep your dashboard looking new and protected from scratches, UV rays, and other damage. There are a variety of dashboard protectors available, so you can choose one that fits your needs and budget.

3. Avoid Using Harsh Chemicals

Harsh chemicals can damage your dashboard, so it’s important to avoid using them. If you need to use a chemical cleaner, be sure to test it in an inconspicuous area first to make sure it doesn’t damage the finish.

4. Don’t Leave Food or Drinks in Your Car

Food and drinks can spill and stain your dashboard, so it’s best to avoid leaving them in your car. If you do spill something, be sure to clean it up immediately.

5. Get Your Dashboard Detailed Professionally

If your dashboard is looking really dirty or damaged, you may want to consider getting it detailed professionally. A professional detailer will have the experience and tools to clean your dashboard thoroughly and protect it from future damage.

6. Clean with a Microfiber Cloth

Microfiber cloths are soft and will not scratch the surface of your dashboard.

7. Avoid using Abrasive Cleaners or Scrubbers

You want to leave your dashboard better than when you found it! An abrasive sponge or cleaner can damage the finish of your dashboard.

8. Use Leather Cleaner

A good leather conditioner can keep your leather dashboard soft and supple — if your dashboard is made out of leather!

9. Use Plastic Polish

If your dashboard is made of plastic, use a plastic polish to protect it from fading and cracking.
